Studying abroad can be one of the most rewarding things that a person can do during their school career. You have a chance to open your mind during the classes that you are taking and find out a little bit more about how people live throughout the world. There are millions of students that choose to learn in a country other than their own, whether they are in a class about chemistry in Europe or one of those that is studying art in New York City from South America. If you're thinking about studying abroad then one of the things that you will need to do is figure out the process for getting a student visa.
Usually the first step in securing an international student visa will be getting accepted to a school that is able to sponsor your application. If you're going from Canada to England, for example, then you will want to make sure that you find out if they have the accreditation to be a sponsor before you get too invested in being a part of their program. This is usually not a problem with larger schools and universities but may be something that you will want to look into if you're going to a specialized school.
When you're accepted to a school as an international student they will generally fill out all of the forms that you will need to apply for your visa, as they will need to fill them out along with you. There are sometimes a few different visas that students need depending on which country they are coming from and you should be sure to check that you are applying for the right kind. For example, if you're studying in America and are Canada then you will likely only need an I-20 whereas those coming from England or Sweden will also need to fill out all of the forms associated with getting an F1 student visa.
Most of the documents that you will need to accompany your visa will be those that prove that you have the money in place to pay for your program and your monthly expenses without any additional help from the local government and without getting a job outside of the school in your chosen country of study. This might mean that while you're still living in your home country that you have to take on some extra work to have it in place when you arrive in St Kitts to study. It could also mean that you will need to get a student loan from your own country.
Your visa application will usually not be approved until you pass an interview at the border the first time you go over. If you're traveling across a border by car, you might do this while driving over. Most people will need to do it at the airport before their flight.
