About TEDx:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
About TED:
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. TED conferences bring together the world's most fascinating minds, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes or less).
Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference and TEDGlobal -- TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
About TEDxRyersonU:
TEDxRyersonU is committed to spreading ideas about technology, entertainment, and design from the best dreamers, thinkers and doers at Ryerson University. We borrow from the TED ideology by devoting ourselves to ideas worth spreading. Our goal is to enable innovation, empower creativity and to help push boundaries across our campus, by means of various disciplines.
We aim to connect the campus and bring all the creative minds of the Ryerson community together and spread their ideas to the world. Since its inception in 2010, TEDxRyersonU has delivered four highly successful events, "Inspiring Your Future" (2010), "Think Forward" (2011), "ACT" (2012), and "361 Degrees: A New Angle" (2013). Going into its' fifth year, TEDxRyersonU promises to attract a dynamic audience who will represent many facets of Ryerson's community.
